New World Number 1 - Olympics is getting closer | TBE EP 59
In this episode of the Badminton Experience, Anders and Hans-Kristian discuss their recent tournaments and focus on the men's singles category. Anders shares his experiences playing in the Thomas Cup, Malaysia Masters, Singapore Open and Indonesia Open. He talks about facing tough opponents like Loh Kean Yew and Lakshya Sen, and the challenges of playing against fast players. Anders also reflects on his performance in the Indonesia Open final against Shi Yuqi. In this conversation, the hosts discuss the recent performances of top men's singles players in badminton. They highlight the improved confidence and mental strength of Shi Yuqi, who has been winning from difficult situations and has become more successful in finals. They also discuss the rise of Shi Yuqi and Lee Zii Jia as contenders for the world number one spot. The hosts mention the inconsistent performances of Jonatan Christie and the need for him to regain his confidence. They also pay tribute to Hendra Setiawan for his incredible consistency in reaching international finals for 23 consecutive years.

    Great episode guys, please keep them coming. Understand Anders will be busy with olympic preparations and play but maybe Hans could record some Paris coverage or recaps, especially on the mens singles, hopefully also featuring Anders on court or just upset results or interesting matches! This is very lacking in the space, as a lot of focus in the media is on other sports. Not sure if Hans is doing any commentary or Danish TV stuff already though. Would be great to hear your insights as always 😁

    Regarding the issue of players should be able to apply tournaments without going thru their federations, I think it will be hard to get approval. I can understand why European players think that way bc most of the cost were from their own pockets even when theyre in national team. They pay all the tickets and hotels themselves. In Asia. For national team, those costs are covered by federations. So there is no way the federations would agree to have their power to be taken away.

    • @nino88881
      @nino88881 13 днів тому

      And at the moment, Asian players have been dominant. Maybe one day if European players managed to take 50% of top 50 ranking then that proposal is possible.
